Dr Ian Webster was born in Cape Town, South Africa. He did his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Cape Town and his postgraduate specialist training in Dermatology at Groote Schuur Hospital/University of Cape Town. Dr Webster was one of the first Dermatologists to bring skin laser surgery to Southern Africa and he underwent post-graduate training in laser surgery at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
Dr Webster has been in private practice as a Specialist Dermatologist in Somerset West, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa since 1992.
He works in association with a Plastic Surgeon at his rooms in Somerset West and has a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and in helping to solve the problems associated with ageing. He is able to offer a variety of products, treatments and procedures to help both these areas of expertise.

Dr Webster is first and foremost a clinical physician in Dermatology and he loves a challenge. He will spend as much time and energy as it takes to make a difficult diagnosis and to find the best way to treat the condition for the best outcome possible.

His patients come from far and wide seeking answers to not only medical conditions but advice on the best treatments or products available to help with the ageing process. He strives to meet his patient’s realistic expectations and give them the best results possible – a happy patient with a good result is the best advert for his expertise and skills.
A desire to never stop learning and experience is what counts
Dr Webster has an insatiable appetite for knowledge and he never stops reading or learning, not just about Dermatology but life skills, business and personal advancement so that he can provide a holistic approach in his relationships with his patients. Before his specialisation in Dermatology, he worked in many different areas of medicine, including as a doctor on the Antarctic supply vessel, the SA Agulhas: the varied experience has given him an added advantage as a diagnostician.
